Established in 2013, the United Nations Inter-Agency Task Force on Social and Solidarity Economy (UNTFSSE) aims to bring greater visibility to the SSE debates, particularly within the United Nations system.
To this end, the members and observers of the Task Force work together to:
- Improve the recognition of the role of SSE enterprises and sustainable development;
- Promote and consolidate SSE networks;
- Support the creation of an institutional and political environment favorable to the social and solidarity economy;
- Coordinate international efforts and strengthen partnerships.
At the end of 2015, the UN agency for food and agriculture (FAO) became the rotating secretary of the Task Force, giving it a new impetus with the setting up of monthly meetings and the arrival of new important actors, such as the European Commission and the American Fourth Sector.
The sustainability and the work force of the TFSSE are essential assets to promote the role and the place of SSE in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
