Unique in Togo: creation of the Savings and Credit Co-operative Society APES which dedicates its funds to the exclusive financing of cooperative projects and youth cooperatives.
In order to provide solutions to the socio-economic integration of the youth and strengthen the ecosystem for the emergence of a strong cooperative movement in Togo, the associative agency for the promotion of cooperative entrepreneurship Actors for a Solidarity Economy in Togo (APES-TOGO), member of SSE International Forum, launches a financial cooperative society with the support of deans and partners. Innovative, this cooperative society will dedicate the savings of its cooperative members, in large part to the exclusive financing of youth cooperative societies and to the creation of jobs.
The Savings and Credit Co-operative Society APES officially came intoexistence at the end of a Constitutive General Assembly held on February 24, 2018, at the Mint Hotel in Lomé (Togo), sponsored by Mr. Maboti MAFELE, former Chairman of the Board of Directors of FUCEC-Togo (Umbrella organization of Savings and Credit Cooperative Units of Togo).
The goal is to bring the members of the APES network to an awareness, and invite them to actively participate in the financing of cooperative projects and cooperatives.
The associative agency for the promotion of cooperative entrepreneurship APES-TOGO is developing three programs to promote cooperative entrepreneurship with the Togolese Government:
- The national program to promote cooperative entrepreneurship of young people aged 18 to 35, in partnership with the Ministry of Grassroots Development, Crafts, Youth and Youth Employment of Togo, and the Italian organization for international cooperation, Coopermondo-Confcooperative;
- The program “Laboratori di imprenditoria cooperativa e cooperazione allo sviluppo”, in partnership with the Clubs Giovani Soci BCC of the Italian Federation of Banks of Crédit Coopératif (Federcasse);
- The program “Learning of entrepreneurship through cooperation” for young people from 5 to 17 years old, in partnership with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education of Togo, the Quebec Council of Cooperation and Mutuality, and ASSA Italy.
The Support Fund for Youth Economic Initiatives of Togo (FAIEJ-TOGO) and the Grassroots Development Support Program (PRADEB), two state programs that support youth projects and initiatives, have participated in the Constitutive General Assembly of the Savings and Credit Co-operative Society APES and actively support this project.
