During the high-level event organized on September 28, 2015 in parallel of the 70th United Nations General Assembly, the International Leading Group on Social and Solidarity Economy (ILGSSE) adopted a joint declaration and committed itself to three priority areas of work, among which the organization of an international conference on financing for SSE.
This conference –which is part of the international agenda on financing for development as a contribution to the implementation of the Addis-Ababa action Action Agenda- aims at facilitating the creation of financing ecosystems favorable to SSE’s development and adapted to the specificities of the countries with:
- on the one hand, the enhancement of the contribution of SSE to financing for development (enhancement of what already exists) and,
- on the other hand, the diversification of financing for SSE via its traditional and innovative sources thanks to a better inclusion of its needs and the development of adapted tools.
A working group, composed of members of the ILGSSE and opened to experts and qualified persons, has been set up. Its goal is to develop preparatory work and orientation documents that will provide input to the future international conference.
The launch meeting organized on December 8, 2016 in Paris aimed at setting a first overview of financing for SSE, identifying the needs and expectations of SSE actors and questioning their difficulties to access financing.
First step towards the international conference on financing for SSE, this meeting will be followed in 2017 by other consultations and regional conference (in Québec, Canada, in San José, Costa-Rica)
